The Community Choice Act is legislation that would finally allow these individuals and families to make real choices about how they receive long term care. Previously the Medicaid Community-Based Assistant Services Act, MiCASSA, the Community Choice Act draws from the “money follows the person” concept by providing those individuals who are eligible for Nursing Facility Services or Intermediate Care Facility Services for the Mentally Retarded (ICF-MR) with the option to receive “Community-based Attendant Services and Supports” as an alternative to institutional care. |
