The members of MO-TASH advocate for self-determination, inclusion and social justice for all Missourians with disabilities.
MO-TASH Vision
Missouri’s citizens with disabilities will have thesame opportunities to live, work and recreate ininclusive communities as those citizens without disabilities. The following lists the basic tenets of the MO-TASH position/vision:
- That all people, including people with disabilities should have the opportunity tolive in their own homes or apartments within the community, with roommates and supporters of their choice.
- That all people, including people with disabilities should have opportunities to workin integrated jobs in the community.
- That all youth, regardless of ability, should beeducated in their local schools and have opportunities for structured or unstructured interactions with other youth their same age.
- That individuals with disabilities and their families should have the self directed opportunity to receive support and services based upon what they need and want asopposed to a predetermined “set” ofservices.
What is MO-TASH?
MO-TASH is the Missouri Chapter of TASH, an International Association of people with disabilities, their family members, other advocates and professionals fighting for a society in which inclusion of all people in all aspects of society is the norm.
Due to the makeup of our membership, which includes self-advocates, parents, educators, service providers, administrators and others, MO-TASH offers a unique combination of backgrounds and experience.
Chartered in 1985, MO-TASH now has members throughout the state and is governed by a board of directors.
MO-TASH Goals
1. Promote self-determination, social justice, and inclusion of people with disabilities in Missouri.
2. Influence public policy, legislation, supports and service delivery which promotes self-determination, inclusion, and social justice.
