Cal-TASH Conference is a Great Success!
On February 1st, close to 300 folks from all over the state of California gathered at the Marriott in Burlingame, California to attend the 26th annual Cal-TASH conference: Strengthening and Sustaining Inclusive Communities.  Forty nine sessions were presented, offering strategies for inclusion in school, work, and play. Other sessions offered a platform for challenging discussion on, “why not” inclusion for all?”  Each year Cal-TASH recognizes several Californian’s who provide leadership and work hard to promote the values of Cal-TASH.  The 2008 recipients of the following awards were, Blair Roger, The Bill Rosenberg Memorial Award, Ann Halvorsen, The Robert Gaylord-Ross Memorial Scholarship Award, Rebecca Kennedy, The Mary Falvey Outstanding Young Person Award and Tammy Ratto, The Diane J. Lipton Memorial Cal-TASH Award. Congratulations to all. Other activities during the conference included, three outstanding keynotes, an evening of “Meet the Board,” entertainment, and an unbelievable raffle, with close to 75 prizes.  The year, “The Dream Wall” gave participants a wonderful chance to express thoughts and hear those of others!  Visit t the Cal-TASH website to read all of the dreams posted.  Cal-TASH Board President Shirley Rodriguez also shares her conference experience in her President's Letter (.pdf).
