Please
join us for a roundtable discussion to share what is going on in the arena
of self-advocacy and what self-advocates believe is important for
promoting self-advocacy in the future.

Self-Advocacy Through Video
This session will present how the process of making a movie was used
to develop self-determination and self-advocacy skills in a self-advocate,
while at the same time helping a facilitator learn how to more effectively
teach such skills.

Voicing One's Dreams: High
School Students with Developmental Disabilities Learn About Self-Advocacy
This
session will present on a self-advocacy project that focused on providing
self-advocacy workshops for high school students with developmental
disabilities. The workshops
were targeted to schools within low-income areas, referred to as
"enterprise zones." Two
of the high schools were located on the Navajo reservation and one high
school was located in
Phoenix
. This presentation highlights
the process, what was learned, and the activities that were particularly
useful for high school students with disabilities.
