We are delighted that you are presenting a poster session! Year after year TASH attendees report on the conference evaluations how much they value and enjoy our poster sessions. As a presenter, this is a great opportunity to speak one-to-one with conference attendees from around the world who want to learn more about the resources you have to offer. Presenter highlights the conclusions presented in his poster session (7785 bytes)

Whether this is your first poster presentation or if you are a seasoned presenter of poster sessions, we hope this will provide you with a basic overview of how the poster sessions will be featured at this year’s TASH conference.

All poster presentations will take place on Saturday, 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. We are pleased to feature a complimentary continental breakfast for all conference during the poster sessions. The program is structured to offer you exclusive exhibit/poster session time -- there will be no concurrent breakout sessions scheduled during this time. This structure provides for optimum attendance at poster sessions so you should bring approximately 100 copies of your handout materials to disseminate to attendees visiting your table.

Presenter discusses her poster presentation with attendees (7740 bytes)You will be provided with one 6' X 30" draped table and two chairs. If you would like an easel next to the table or any other audiovisual equipment, the chairperson must order those. (order here)

Please note that no audiovisual equipment is provided for poster sessions unless otherwise ordered by the session chairperson. An audio visual order form can be downloaded from the TASH website. All orders for audiovisual equipment must be ordered and paid for by October 1st.

As you plan for your poster, please keep in mind the following suggestions:

  1. The difference between poster and oral presentations is that you should let your poster do most of the 'talking'; that is, the material presented should convey the essence of your message.
  2. Your task as the presenter is to answer questions and provide further details; to bask in praises or answer difficult questions; and to convince others that what you have done is excellent and worthwhile!
  3. Keep the material simple
    • make full use of the space, but do not cramp a page full of information as the result can often appear messy
    • be concise and do not waffle. Use only pertinent information to convey your message
    • be selective when showing results. Present only those that illustrate the main points of the project. However, you may want to have handouts that explain the information in more detail.
  4. choose background and foreground color combinations that have high contrast and complement each other - black or dark blue on white or very light grey is good.Keep the background the light color, as that is what people are used to seeing.
  5. Do not use more than 2 font types
    • too many font types distracts, especially when they appear on the same sentence
    • fonts that are easy on the eyes are Times-Roman and Arial.
  6. Use a large font for the title and headings, and label all diagrams.
  7. Have fun and be creative - it's a great way to share information with lots of people!
If you have any questions about your participation in a poster session, please contact Denise Marshall dmarsh@tash.org  or by phone at 410-828-8276 ext. 103.
