MISSION and BACKGROUND

TASH is a unique international advocacy association of people working for a society in which inclusion of all people in all aspects of society is the norm. TASH is a true coming together of people with disabilities, parents and other family members, advocates, professionals, students and researchers from around the world. The strength of TASH is its unwavering focus on eliminating boundaries, changing systems, building community capacity, arousing consciousness, and organizing action. TASH’s mission is to eliminate physical and social obstacles that prevent equity, diversity, and quality of life.

TASH. . . Leading the way to inclusion, opportunity, equal access, and best practice based on research for people labeled with disabilities.

TASH. . . Building communities in which no one is segregated and everyone belongs.   TASH. . . Creating opportunities for people with disabilities to lead, to claim their right to be included, and to receive the supports and services that will enable them to participate successfully in their families, schools, communities, and jobs.

EVENT OVERVIEW - Connect With Your Target Market

The work of TASH is as far-reaching and varied as its membership. No single disability conference offers your organization more direct contact with almost 1,900 decision-makers from a diverse range of settings and occupations. One of the greatest strengths of the annual TASH Conference is the talented and diverse audience that it attracts.

People with disabilities, family members, elementary, high school, and university educators, students, researchers, occupational and physical therapists, adult service providers, public policy advocates, and many other professionals travel to this event from across the United States and from around the world. Every attendee brings with him/her a unique background and experiences. They come as much for the renewal of spirit and the networking opportunities as for the superior information sharing. The spirit, energy, and commitment of this group is what makes the TASH conference such an exceptional event.

Don’t Miss the Chance to Showcase Your Company’s Services Before This Select Group of Attendees!

Now in its 30th year, the annual TASH Conference, The Heart of TASH: 30 Years and Still Beating Strong, will be held November 9-12, 2005 at the Milwaukee Midwest Express Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Sponsorship of this premier event offers your company lasting recognition and exposure for your organization’s work, products and services. Set against the spectacular backdrop of RiverWalk, Paradise Landing (indoor water park), The James Lovell Museum of Science, the Humphrey IMAX Dome Theater and the Miller Brewing Company Visitor Center, this exciting and diverse venue will further enhance the marketing opportunities for TASH’s corporate partners.

This invigorating conference, which brings together the best hearts and minds in the disability movement, features over 300 topic specific breakout sessions, exhibits, roundtable discussions, and poster sessions. Topics and themes addressed at the conference cover the lifespan and include workshops and presentations on advocacy, community living, early childhood, employment, family, governmental affairs, guardianship alternatives, inclusive education, leisure and recreation, literacy, multicultural issues, positive behavoral approaches, related services, research, self-determination, sexuality, special health care needs, transition, and more.
